Cambridge Zero’s Community Day is back! Join us on Saturday, 28 June 2025, for a day of inspiration, collaboration, and climate action. Our programme is now ready!

Note, the events from 10-5pm are located at the Student Services Centre, Benet's Street, CB2 3PT. The closing event 7:00-8:30pm will take place at Great St Mary's Church, Senate House Hill, Cambridge CB2 3PQ.

Join us for an interactive stall to learn more about broad beans and how to nourish our minds naturally! We’ll be sharing info cards on broad beans, sustainability, and mental wellness. We will also have a public talk. Please see Film & Talks Sessions for timings.

Diocese of Ely

In 2020, the Church of England pledged to reach Net Zero Carbon by 2030. In the Diocese of Ely, we’re working with churches, schools, and communities to share progress and inspire wider engagement. Join us for an interactive conversation and more!

Who should be responsible?

The Centre for Climate Engagement will be asking the question “Who should be responsible for leading climate action—government, businesses, or local communities?” We will also have a Citizen’s Jury in the afternoon (4:15 – 5:00pm). Please see Film & Talks Sessions for more details.

Show & Tell-Live Podcast

An interactive show-and-tell by highlighting Wolfson College’s environmental efforts through its Sustainability and Conservation Hub, Green Impact Team interventions, and Green Officer initiatives. There will also be a presentation. See Film & Talks Sessions for timings.

Immersive Technology Lab

Multi-award-winning project using virtual reality to visualise emissions data and highlight impactful climate solutions. Experience it first-hand and explore opportunities for positive collaboration. All equipment will be provided.

Hands-On Batteries!

Take part in hands-on activities like building a penny battery and testing electrolytes. Discover battery science and why rechargeable batteries are essential for everyday life and a sustainable future. Organised by the Grey Group (Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry

Snakes & Ladders

Play our giant Net Zero Snakes and Ladders game! Climb ladders with policy wins and tech breakthroughs, but watch out for snakes representing setbacks and barriers on the journey to net zero. Organised by Mothers CAN Cambridge.

CHaOS

Join us for hands-on experiments exploring climate change and renewable energy! Discover the greenhouse effect, ocean carbonation, and how we can harness wind and solar power for a sustainable future. Organised by Cambridge Hands-On Science (CHaOS).

Learn about our past and future activities, alongside a “mapathon” where visitors can pin places they value in their neighbourhood and share what makes them special.

Centre for Landscape Regeneration

Come and discover the Fens and explore our environmental research into this remarkable landscape through engaging, hands-on creative activities for all ages! We will be joined by our friends from the Museum of Zoology, Cambridge Science Centre, Cambridge Curiosity and Imagination and the McDonald Institute.

Transition Cambridge

Demonstration of their current projects using various objects and also interacting with the public.

Reflecting on Cities

Exhibition of photographs, moving images and other forms of creative artwork showcasing the relationship between urbanization and natural landscape in cities across the globe. Organised by Xiangshu Li, MSt Student at Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages and Linguistics, University of Cambridge.

Social Action - Parkside

Welcome aboard Parkside's Social Action Group Service – ‘Destination: Restoration’. Join us on our journey to a Flourishing World, inspiring people to make a difference along the way. Our train leads you through 5 student-run stations to restore our once-thriving planet.

ActNow Film

The film weaves together the insights of global climate experts with the narratives and actions of young people from across the world. The project is run by the University of Bath Institute for Policy Research (IPR) and Cambridge Zero. See Film & Talks Sessions for timings

Sustainability & Conservation Hub, Wolfson College: The presentation explores climate resilience, biodiversity, resource efficiency, and waste management driven by a systems-thinking approach. 12.15-1pm

Anxiety to Action: Experience powerful short films - Plan Z, Climate Anxiety and Bats, Bottles and Butterflies – revealing different aspects of our fight for our future. Join XR scientists and youth voices in an open, vital, discussion. Think about actions you can take to make a difference. Organised by Parkside's Social Action Group Service. 2:30-4pm
