Cambridge Zero is an integral part of the University of Cambridge’s mission to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning, and research at the highest international levels of excellence.

The Education and Student Engagement Team within Cambridge Zero seeks to prepare learners for a changing future, enabling them to be problem solvers and solution seekers wherever their lives may take them.

Cambridge Zero works within and across the University of Cambridge to deliver two strategic objectives:

  1. Climate and sustainability education within University of Cambridge curricula
Delivering a strategic engagement programme to influence and inform climate and sustainability education within the University of Cambridge’s formal undergraduate and taught postgraduate curriculum.

  2. Supporting University of Cambridge learners to develop and hone their skills and ability to act for a sustainable future

The Education and Student Engagement Team within Cambridge Zero catalyses learning from climate and sustainability research across the University to ensure that it has real-world application to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Cambridge Zero supports learning, teaching and policy development at local, national and international levels through three strategic objectives:

  1. Translate climate and sustainability knowledge from University of Cambridge researchers into educational contexts within formal curricula, ages 5-19.
  2.  Collaborate across the Collegiate University to scope vocational education and training, focused on upskilling adults, to affect a global net zero transition through work.
  3. Inform policy by delivering strategic projects related to climate education, both domestically and internationally.

Cambridge Zero collaborates with a wide range of University and non-Cambridge partners to deliver these objectives:

Beyond the Collegiate University of Cambridge, the Cambridge Zero Education Team are active participants in a range of national- and international-focused collaborations. We bring youth voices to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP each year with ActNowFilm, and regularly present at high-impact events.
