Tom Twitchett
Tom is Head of Operations for Cambridge Zero. He is responsible for the development and management of all operational activities, and has oversight of the delivery of the agreed programme of activities.
Before joining the team, Tom worked as Head of Operations for the Centre for Digital Built Britain, managing a team of 16 people and a grant worth over £30m to the University. Prior to that, as Category Manager in the University’s Procurement team in both scientific and IT categories, he delivered several million pounds-worth of procurement savings during his tenure and enabled the University to employ a number of new technologies and platforms.
Prior to joining the University, Tom spent time in both local and central government roles, covering contract management, change management, internal communications and IT.
What is your favourite thing about being part of Cambridge Zero or the University of Cambridge?
Being able to make a difference to the team, the University and the planet!
What do you think is our biggest environmental challenge?
Changing behaviours, particularly around the convenience of materials like plastics.
What gets you out of bed (and into work) in the morning?
My alarm clock!! In all seriousness, knowing I am enabling others to fulfil their objectives and make a difference is what drives me.
