Hosting climate change events and promoting climate-related events across the Collegiate University

Tsinghua University-Cambridge University Joint Research Initiative Fund - Internal Workshop

- ,

This hybrid event, open to researchers from Cambridge and Tsinghua Universities, will introduce research and collaborations on climate change to prepare an upcoming call for proposals, and also showcase previous projects supported by the Fund.

The Initiative was set up in 2019 to strengthen research collaborations between academics in the two institutions. Calls were issued in 2019 (a general call), 2020 (a call to tackle the pandemic) and 2021 (a call to tackle climate change). Over 20 collaborative projects have been funded by the Initiative to date.

Date and time:

Session 1: Tackling Climate Change: initiatives, research and collaborations

9:00 – 11:00 UK time/ 16:00-18:00 Beijing time Friday 20 May

The aim of the session is to introduce research, initiatives and collaborations of the two institutions to tackle climate change, and to facilitate the building of joint Cambridge-Tsinghua teams for an upcoming second closing of the 2021 climate focused call. The event will be particularly helpful for anyone interested in submitting a proposal to this upcoming call.

Session 2: Showcasing projects funded by "Tsinghua-Cambridge Joint Research Initiative Fund"

9:00 – 11:00 UK time/ 16:00-18:00 Beijing time Monday 23 May

The aim of the session is to showcase projects granted in 2019 (a general call) and 2020 (a call to tackle the pandemic). There will be further calls later this year and in 2023/24. If you are interested in proposing a project in the general area of the initiative (Sustainability and Future Emerging Technologies) you are very welcome to attend this event. It will be an opportunity to hear about the type of research projects that can be funded under this initiative and to make connections with potential partners at Tsinghua.

Venue and format:

We aim to organise a hybrid event, subject to Covid policies of both institutions. For Cambridge attendees who would like to attend in person, the venue will be in the Maxwell Centre. Online joining instructions will be circulated before the event. Considering potential uncertainties due to the pandemic, we will give a final confirmation prior to the event.
